Farfalla in luce

Farfalla in luce (2019) oil on canvas, 30×40

Sometimes nature enjoys pretending to act like an artist… For this painting I was inspired by a picture of a blue Morpho butterfly. The geometries turn into embroideries. The wings reflect an iridescent light. Nature becomes art, and art is nature. I wanted to play with shapes and colours modifying the original ones, and I freed myself because, as Matisse said, “colour is above all a liberation, perhaps even more than drawing”
