Ballo di coppia

Ballo di coppia (2021), acrylic, plaster, paper collage on canvas, 30×40

I started this work on a pondering afternoon. I began from a dark background resembling my soul currently.

I worked plaster and acrylic with a spatula and used household tools (knives, forks, expired papers) and then I glued on the canvas the figures I had chosen long ago from a fashion magazine.

I added colors and shapes, shades of silver and copper. The two dancers dressed in white emerge from the background like if it was magic. A leap from darkness to light and hope.

As I painted, my soul calmed down.

I want to arouse emotions to the viewer through illusion and why not even a bit of fantasy.

In the end, what is life if not other than a (short and magical) dance?
