I painted this portray because the image seduced me: a woman from behind with her gaze turned to the unknown from where you can glimpse a little light…
I love painting draperies: they are always a challenge for me. I remember in Rome, my teacher used to call me the queen of draperies, but back then I made them in pastel. Here I worked only with oil colors. I almost lost myself between the lines. The process was a sort of hypnosis both liberating and relaxing.
The female figure is an indispensable source of continuous inspiration for me!
